2019 Dutton Ranch Chardonnay Russian River Valley

Notes

Green-tinged, pale yellow. Focused, vibrant aromas of Gravenstein apple flesh and skins, lime, underlaid with powdery hints of roasted grains and freshly struck flint. Lively and bright with a solid spine given its low pH. Well shouldered without being broad given its rearing in sandy Goldridge soils. A wonderfully balanced expression of those soils and a wine that is approachable now yet worthy of cellaring

The 2019 Chardonnay Dutton Ranch shows more classic Russian River opulence, with plenty of pineapple, pear, and peach-like fruits as well as that classic Kistler minerality and white flower characteristics. Medium-bodied, beautifully textured, with good acidity and a great finish, drink this quintessential Russian River beauty over the coming 8-10 years.

The 2019 Chardonnay Dutton Ranch is another wine that impresses with its balance and class. Lemon confit, white flowers, white pepper, mint and chalk give the Dutton Ranch its distinctive upper register. The Dutton is perhaps not as complex as some of the other wines in the range, but it is among the most approachable and delicious today.

The 2019 Chardonnay Dutton Ranch is energetic and tensile, beginning with grapefruit and lemon peel aromas that open over time to white peaches, dried lilac, beeswax and cashews. The palate is satiny and expansive. Its intense, floral-laced flavors are refreshed by youthfully tangy acidity, and it has an ethereal finish that just goes on and on. Wow!
